Digital Ultrasound

The ultrasound machine works by producing high-frequency sound waves that penetrate the structures being imaged. The reflective properties of the bones, tendons, and ligaments are unique. The reflected waves form an image, which is used most often to visualize soft tissues. Ultrasound images need to be of good quality and the veterinarian familiar with the anatomy of the area to provide proper interpretation.
