Job shadow opportunities for pre-veterinary students and externships/preceptorships for veterinary students.

Summit Equine Hospital provides primary care to horses, goats, and cattle in the greater Raleigh area and we are committed to education. We enjoy providing an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in general practice. Students that spend time at our clinic will get a taste of what it is like to be a large animal veterinarian.

Please contact us well in advance of when you would like to visit - we have many requests due to the proximity to a veterinary school and to an undergraduate university with an excellent animal science program.

We do ask that you commit to:

• A regular schedule in some capacity- whether that be once a week over the course of several months, 

• Or a 2-week period when you are here every day.

Veterinary students are expected to be available for emergency duty and inpatient care as needed. We will work with your schedule as much as possible!

Student housing available. Housing is available free of charge at the clinic if needed. Please contact us for more information! You are welcome to stay if you are from out of town or if you are local and find it easier for inpatient care and emergency duty.
