Physical Examination

A complete physical exam includes thoroughly examining the horse for any abnormalities including areas of heat/swelling or pain, masses, skin conditions, and more. It also includes examining the eyes, listening to the lungs and upper airway, heart rate and rhythm, gastrointestinal sounds (gut sounds), temperature, capillary refill time, and examining the mucous membranes.
